even debating whether or not these techniques are torture is disgusting and beneath us as a people

perfectly said

to reject torture is not a question of a "tool" for something - it is about humanity and decency, about justice and dignity and the respect for life - about the hope that one day we will overcome all the misery because our democracies will win in the end

what Bush did - and what no other (declared) dictator is and was ever be able to do - is to undermine the faith in democracy with lip service, with speaking about justice, freedom and democracy while killing, maiming and stealing like the true incarnation of injustice, unfreedom and disrespect for the common good

did you watch Bali?

maybe Mother Earth will support democracy by forcing humankind to unite to survive - hope so, love my son...

I've said it before...........even debating whether or not these techniques are torture is disgusting and beneath us as a people. If we can't simply say, "We will not use torture" (and mean it) we have lost our way.

During the Vietnam War, civilian casualties were called "collateral damage." The Media went along with that without a whimper. One would think that the print media, in particular, would stop dancing to Bush's tune and spinning his spin like Whirling Dervishes. They are losing readers by the millions. At least, there is Keith Olbermann, who tells it like it is.
And what about the Media proclaiming that violence is down in Baghdad?!!!
30 people were killed or wounded on Thursday in Baghdad. Over a hundred were killed or wounded in Amara, but I guess that doesnt count since it isnt in Baghdad. We will now see a redefinition of violence. And, it will be ignored in all other provinces and towns in Iraq. Thousands could die, but the "Surge" will still be considered as effective, because the "collateral damage" isnt in Baghdad! Lilliputian Logic 101, offered 7 days a week, 24 hr. a day, by Bush/Cheney, et. al. Get your course outline from the Media.
