The Republicans just looooove to harp about the myth that Ronald Reagan brought down the Soviet Union. If a lie is told long enough people tend to believe it; and this is one of them. History will ferret out the truth;but that takes the filter of time. At any rate, those who are less gullible and susceptible to political distortions, know that the Soviet Union collapsed because of its economic implosion. The war in Afghanistan, the corrupt Communist system and their terrible economic policies led to the downfall of the Soviet Union. There wasnt any money left to hold it together. We may very well be on the same path. Bush, who lives in LaLa Land, and the MSM refuse to acknowledge the tremors that preview the cataclysm. The dollar keeps losing ground. Billionaires world-wide are dumping their dollars. Deficit spending is at an all-time high, and cannot continue indefinitely. The trade deficit shows more money going out than coming in. The Middle Class, the backbone of the economy, is maxed out on credit card debt, can't save, and is being strangled by inflationary healthcare costs, fuel costs, higher education costs, rising property taxes, home insurance costs, and the increased costs in goods brought about by rising fuel costs. Wages for the Middle Class are stagnant. The mortgage foreclosure rate is at an alltime high. In the meantime, Bush and Congress act as though all is coming up roses. It is, if you are a wealthy investor. But, at some point the dam is going to break, and even some of the wealthy may be treading water. Bush thinks he can bully, overpower, and repress the rest of the world. The Neocons are the guiding light for this folly. It can't be done, and those who have tried, have failed. There will be a price to pay for such hubris. Ask those who learned from Nazi Germany. Ask those who learned from the collapse of the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, George W. Bush is unable to learn from his mistakes or from the big ones that history has chronicaled.
