The third reason the GOP’s in trouble
The first reason the GOP is in trouble is Iraq — duh.
The second reason the GOP is in trouble is corruption, broadly defined to cover just about every aspect of recent Republican rule.
But the third reason the GOP is in trouble is an oldie but goodie — the party is still owned lock, stock and barrel by a group of ideological conservatives so extreme in their outlook that they make rational people cringe. A case in point . . .
Short version: It isn’t good enough to be against abortion: you also have to be willing to call it murder.
Shucks Wally, these folks are kind of scary aren’t they?

The Republican Party has become the Home Sweet Home of fanatics, crackpots, cranks, bigots, liars and corporate crooks. There was some group, Survivalists, I think, that had a compound in Idaho. Frankly, much of the party belongs out there with them on the lunatic fringe. The Republicans have become extremists. Any mention of the common good sends them into a veritable seizure of hysteria, screaming socialism, communism, welfare queens, and gay marriage!!! They begin frothing at the mouth. What is so amazing is that they want to destroy government, but want the government in your bedroom. They seem to believe that the only legitmate function of government is to provoke wars and spy on the citizens of this country(besides being in your bedroom.) Go figure. Their primary concern is to make the rich much richer at everyone else’s expense, be it education, healthcare, clean air and water, crime prevention, you name it, they want to cut the funding for it; then spend billions destroying other countries and meddling in their business. To justify this insanity, they resort to daily fearmongering events to scare the bejesus out of a gullible populace. Men like Karl Rove and Dick Cheney are their poster boys. Anyone with intelligence, perception, and decency would not vote Republican. It is a rogue party.

I have been harping about the basic dishonesty of the Republican Party for years….Dishonesty in the sense that they purposefully and willfully hide their extremist views from the public in order to elect people who have no hesitation whatsoever in implementing the most extreme, nutty positions you can find…..
If the American public knew and understood what the Republican Party REALLY stood for, they wouldn’t elect a republican to even the lowliest of public positions. They have proven (and perhaps this is the silver lining of the Bush Administration) that they cannot ever again be entrusted with the reins of government. Bush has exposed their lies about who they really are.
