When doing right is good politics

I don’t believe for a nanosecond that there is any, even a speck, of political calculation involved in Barack Obama’s decision to go to Hawaii to see his ailing grandmother.

But anyone who thinks that this (video) is going to cost Obama politically is an idiot.

Update: It seems I was wrong. According to a McCain surrogate, far from being the right thing to do, the real scandal today (as opposed to Palin’s clothes) is the fact Obama is taking his campaign plane on this personal trip.

Can someone please tell me how we managed to lose to these guys for so many years?

Sometimes I do have to laugh.

Firstly ‘Visiting grandma’ ? Blakeman just pissed of half the grandmas in the country if not the world.
He used a campaign plane? Well and good to point out that he shouldn’t have but then it is followed up with “…or taking a smaller plane. … “ hello, if it is wrong it is wrong and the size is rather moot.

Between McCains tantrums, Palins hollowness (thank you Mr. Eliot) and the overall lack of management ability the party has shown so far I have to wonder if the Republicans actually trying to loose this election or are they simply this incompetent.

    The Hollow Men

    We are the hollow men
    We are the stuffed men
    Leaning together
    Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
    Our dried voices, when
    We whisper together
    Are quiet and meaningless
    As wind in dry grass
Or rats’ feet over broken glass
    In our dry cellar

Shape without form, shade without colour,
    Paralysed force, gesture without motion;

I said that McCain’s campaign and supporters would try to use Obama’s trip to see his grandmother against him. And, they have done so. They are addicted to sleaze, smears and hatemongering. In other words, they are desperate. Anything goes!
