A long overdue message from Steve
To post, or not to post: that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler to force others to suffer
The slings and arrows of fatigued utterance,
Or to by silence save them a sea of troubles.
I haven’t posted for quite a few days; much thanks to Greg for filling in, as hopefully he will continue to do, at least on occasion, for a little while longer until I’m home. In the meanwhile, I am going to try to start dropping in a few posts here and there.
This one probably won’t be up to of my usual literary standards (C+ level composition for a 5th grader). I’m dead tired.
My elderly father recently developed a critical and very complex cardiac problem. For a number of reasons I won’t bore you with, it was important I be present to help manage things. So, on very short notice, I flew through bumpy skies to Bangor, Maine. No sooner had I jumped off the plane then they decided to transfer him by ambulance to Boston. So I took the rental car and drove Mom down. We’ve been here three days so far.
At first, they were going to perform surgery on a semi-emergency basis (they kept saying it would start in one more hour, one more hour, one more hour), but ultimately they put off out of concern over a possible infection.
I’m not sure how long I’m going to be here, or how often I’ll be able to “speak” with you (even aside from spending most hours at the hospital, the wireless Internet service at the hotel moves with all of the speed and grace of an intoxicated slug), but I’ll try to stay in touch.
And thanks to those of you who have written or posted comments with words of support in response to my earlier obscure post.
Best,
Steve
