    WOOHOOO!

Thanks Steve! That is the most coherent defense of the netroots I have seen yet. It’s going to get a link on our local Democratic blog/website.

I had a recent experience which may highlight the need to redistribute this article LIBERALLY in other Democratic circles. A relative of mine is a good, union-member, life-long Democrat and we often engage in “wine and Bush-bashing” sessions. The only real difference between us is that I am “net-active” and he is not. When I provide him with information that I’ve received on the web or tell him of feelings, opinions, activities that take place in our “fever swamp”, he tells me that those things aren’t happening “in the real world”. He is quite convinced that Hillary is going to get the nomination because she is dealing in the “real” world and we’re dealing in … what? Fantasy Land?

What is happening with the Liebermann - Ned Lamont race now may change everything. The netroots may finally assert itself….

My mission now is to get other Democrats to join the netroots…..

    response to Again….

I think his real world consists of the Labor Temple and his favorite Neighborhood bar…..he’d rather have root canal by the lowest bidder than watch Faux-News…(grin)

    wow, a really big world…

(just kidding, don’t want to offend your relative…)

but problem is with Faux et.al - you can’t escape their propaganda, even when you are aware of…

Look at Italy - where the state’s propaganda machinery is also called “private industry” - only the expats were able to slip throuth the net of constant manipulation, the expats were the ones who know best the true colors of Berlusconi - they expelled him

actually, the internet might be the only “real world” currently existing in America - outside seems to be nothing else than fairy tales creating “cognitive dissonance” (as Greg told us)…

    Again:

“only the expats were able to slip throuth the net of constant manipulation, the expats were the ones who know best the true colors of Berlusconi - they expelled him”

Hee hee, we American expats are doing our best to expell Prexy! :) We do vote, you know (and, at least in Oregon where every ballot is paper and mail-in anyway, our votes are probably counted!).

Actually, sometimes I wonder whether my view of the news back home is skewed in the other direction? I have never seen Fox News at all (not that I would want to anyway!) or much other right-wing propaganda, but I do always check for left-wing propaganda (is it?) on the Internet; and the Luxembourgish media slant on American news is also very critical (the American ambassador to Luxembourg recently sent a letter, in English, to a local newspaper, which they printed in full in English, complaining about the critical slant of its news coverage of America). So, maybe I’m *WRONG* to be glad that my daughter is growing up here instead of back home, here where the telephone calls are private, here where the health care system is sensible, here where the school system isn’t broken? Maybe it’s not so bad back in the States as it sounds like from here?

Somehow I doubt it, but you never know!
